To create the VPN connection, click on the network button in the notification area (Lower right corner) to access the network side bar.

From here, select Network and Internet Settings.

On the left side, select VPN.

On the right side, select Network and Sharing Center.

On this new windows, select Set up a new connection or network.

Select Connect to a workplace and click Next.

Select Use my Internet connection (VPN)

Enter the following information:

  • Internet Address: svpn.elpaso.ttuhsc.edu
  • Destination name: TTUHSC VPN

Uncheck Remember my credentials and click Create.

Next on the left side, click Change adapter settings

Right-click on TTUHSC VPN and select Properties.

Select the Security tab and make sure the following settings are selected:

  • Type of VPN: Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec)
  • Data encryption: Require encryption (disconnect if server declines)
  • Allow these protocols
    • Uncheck Unencrypted password (PAP)
    • Check Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP)
    • Check Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)
    • Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain, if any)

Just under the drop down for Type of VPN, please click on Advanced settings.

Select Use preshared key for authentication and enter the following in lowercase letters.

  • Key: ttuhsc

Click Okay to accept changes on both windows and close the VPN Settings page.

You have now successfully configured the VPN connection.

 

  1. To connect to the TTUHSC network via VPN, click on the network button in the notification area (Lower right corner) to access the network side bar.

Select TTUHSC VPN from this window and press Connect to authenticate to the VPN network.

At this point you should be prompted for credentials. Please use your current eraider username and password.

 

  1. After you are finished using the TTUHSC VPN, Make sure to disconnect from it. To disconnect, click on the network buttonin the notification area (Lower right corner) to access the network side bar.

Click on TTUHSC VPNand select Disconnect.
