TTUHSC El Paso continues to monitor the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its impacts to our community. Based on the increased number of infections across the U.S., TTUHSC El Paso is updating the travel notice issued last week.
Personal Travel
Students, faculty and staff who travel domestically or internationally are required to notify the university regarding that travel before leaving. If the travel is to a country classified as Level 3 by the CDC (www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/), travelers will be required to self-isolate off campus for 14 days before returning to campus.
The university reserves the right to deny emergency leave and require normal leave procedures for any individual who knowingly travels to an area within the U.S. with a high risk of COVID-19 cases, to a country designated as Level 3 by the CDC at risk for COVID-19 transmission, or on a cruise.
Self-disclosure can be made via email to PresidentELP@ttuhsc.edu.
International Travel
All university-related international travel by students, staff and faculty will be suspended effective now through April 30, 2020. Employees commuting between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso are not affected.
Domestic Travel
From now through April 30, 2020, nonessential, work-related domestic travel will be halted. Essential work-related travel must be approved by the President, even if previously approved by the traveler’s supervisor.
Requests for travel now through April 30, 2020 that have already been approved by the traveler’s supervisor and submitted through our Travel System should be made by emailing PresidentELP@ttuhsc.edu.
Any employee who has already booked travel should make every effort to obtain a refund for all related costs. Travel advances and airline credits issued to the traveler will follow standard procedures in HSCEP OP 79.05. The Travel Office, in conjunction with the President’s Office, will work to ensure employees are reimbursed for nonrefundable amounts.
Visitors to Campus
Departments must notify the President’s Office of any international visitors to campus for visits occurring through April 30, 2020. Visitors arriving from a country with a CDC Travel Warning of Level 3 are not permitted on campus. Please send information about international visitors to PresidentELP@ttuhsc.edu.
We will continue to follow developments and provide information and recommendations to ensure the health and safety of our university community.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
