TTUHSC El Paso leadership is closely monitoring the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and working with the Texas Tech University System to ensure our campus community remains safe. Throughout the pandemic we have implemented CDC guidelines and will continue to do so. We are committed to keeping our students, faculty and staff informed with updates on operational phases, local protocol and safety measures.

TTUHSC El Paso is currently in Phase I (normal operations) of our return-to-campus operational plan. This means all students and employees are back on campus, regardless of vaccination status. We will continue following and implementing CDC guidelines as they are updated.

Personnel:

  • Due to the current "substantial" level of community transmission of COVID-19 in El Paso County, it is recommended that students, employees and visitors – including those who are fully vaccinated – wear face masks in all indoor settings.
  • Face masks and social distancing are still required in the hospital and clinics in patient care areas.
  • Unvaccinated and vulnerable individuals (as defined by federal guidelines) can resume public interactions, but should wear masks.
  • At this time, food cannot be served indoors during campus events. Food may be served outdoors. This requirement does not apply to personal lunches, drinks and snacks.
  • All team members should consider minimizing time spent in crowded environments.
  • Continue avoiding physical contact, including handshakes, hugs and typical greetings.

Campus Operations:

  • Small and large venues are fully operating; however at this time, it is recommended that individuals and visitors indoors – including those who are fully vaccinated – wear face masks and remain conscious of physical distancing.

Report Symptoms and Practice Safe Hygiene:

  • Be aware of the symptms of COVID-19, including: fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, sore throat, headache, body aches, congestion, new loss of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Stay home when you are sick and avoid close contact with those who are sick.
  • Wear a mask when the region is experiencing "substantial" or "high" levels of community transmission.
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.

Those students and employees experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who have been exposed to an individual with COVID-19 are asked to fill out the online screening tool here.
